Gone Too Soon

Once upon a time, I fell in love with a boy in a book. Then that boy was brought to life on screen perfectly by Jonathan Crombie, so I fell a little bit in love with him too. Today, Jonathan passed away at the very young age of 48. The part of me that always wanted to be Anne Shirley is devastated.

Goodbye Gil, we'll miss you.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer

I'm not sure I should admit this, but I'm going to anyway... this made me cry. I've been super excited about the new Star Wars movie so I've been anxiously awaiting the trailer. I knew it was going to be awesome. I just didn't expect the wave of nostalgia that hit me. The music, the voice over, the next generation, and the return of old friends. After my reaction to this trailer, I'm a little worried about how I will react in the theaters.

The Duff

I have to admit that I had no intention of seeing The Duff. The title alone was enough to turn me off. I was the designated ugly fat friend in high school, why would I want to go see a movie about that? But then my friends started going to see and they were posting really good reviews about it. My curiosity was piqued so a group of friends and I went to see it. I absolutely loved it! This movie is hilariously funny, touching and swoon-worthy.

The message of accepting yourself and the importance of friendship is one that I wish I had gotten when I was in high school. I remember thinking that the labels we carried around were actually important and I based my self worth on those. If one person learns the lesson that what others think about them doesn't matter, this movie will be worth it.

Just a warning- the movie is rated PG-13 and is definitely inappropriate for anyone younger than that. To me it was about the same as Easy A as far as what age group should see the movie.

I'll leave you with a quote that sums up the movie perfectly and is how I try to live my life- "You're only as awesome as you think you are."
