Afternoon Tea in Austenland

This afternoon my friend Meg and I had the opportunity to go to Afternoon Tea in Austenland. It was held at the Grand America Hotel and was hosted by the Salt Lake Film Society.  Shannon Hale was there and told the story of how Austenland became a book and then how it was adapted into a movie. She also shared some behind the scenes stories and pictures.

While Shannon was talking we were all enjoying a proper tea complete with cucumber sandwiches and scones.

Beautiful tea flower centerpiece- when we sat down it was just a dried lump in the glass, then the waitress poured hot water on and it became this.

Meg and I had a fabulous afternoon. It's always great to hear Shannon talk about her work and the atmosphere was divine. What a great escape on a Tuesday afternoon!

We didn't get to go to today's screening due to scheduling conflicts but I did get a chance to see it during Sundance. You can read my review here
