The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

First things first, let's take a moment to admire this amazing cover. It's is one of favorites of the year. I love the dark background, the red eye and that blood tear drop- WOWZA!!!

Now that we've ooh'd and ahh'd over the cover let me tell you how insanely fabulous this book is on the inside. You know those books that all you can do when you finish them is hug them and smile like a moron? (Please tell me I'm not the only one that does this.) This is one of those books. Allison Sekemoto is probably one of the most kickass heroines to come around in a while. She starts this book as a vampire hater- surviving day to day by scavenging for food in the Fringe, the outskirts of a vampire ruled city. Then in a moment of desperation Allie makes a choice to become a vampire rather than die. Now she is faced with the challenge of learning to be immortal and coming to terms with the monster she has become. On her journey of self discovery Allie finds out who her real friends are, what is truly important and how to be a kick-ass vampire. I don't want to say more because I don't want to spoil anything. I also don't really know how to put it all into words without sounding like a babbling idiot. All I can say is that everyone needs to read this book!!!

The Immortal Rules is dark and creepy (Just a tip- don't read it late at night if you live by yourself.) but it is also fan-freaking-tastic. I loved every minute of this ride and can't wait to see where Julie takes us in the next book.
