One Word

Empire Magazine asked the cast of Harry Potter to describe the experience in one word. Several of their answers gave me chills.

Hourglass by Myra McEntire

You know those books that you love so much that you want to stand in the bookstore and give anyone that even thinks about going into the YA section a copy of the book? That's how much I LOVED Hourglass. I loved everything about this book- the cover, the setting, the plot, and the characters.

Oh, the characters! How I loved them- the sassy, fluent in sarcasm Emerson, the swoon worthy, compassionate, electrifying Michael (I wouldn't mind sharing a few zingers with him- wowza!) and the lovely, lovely Kaleb (Seriously? Violet blue eyes, black hair, tattoos and a swimmer's body...*thud*.) I truly loved or hated every character in this book.

Hourglass made me laugh, swoon, cry, cringe and sob. I think I felt every emotion possible while reading it. It is full of twists and turns- some of them I saw coming and one that I did not. (That one completely threw me for a loop!) I am so excited to see where Myra takes us in the sequel. I just don't want to wait for it ;)

X-Men: First Class

Back in 2000 I was dating a guy who drug me to see X-Men. If I remember correctly there was some deal made about me choosing where we went to dinner and he got to choose the movie. I remember rolling my eyes and thinking he was crazy for choosing some silly comic book movie but a deal was a deal so I went to the movie. I also remember thinking that anything that made him that big of a fanboy had to be worth it, even if it was just for the grin on his face. Well, the relationship didn't last but I took one lasting thing from it. My love/obsession for all things X-Men.

When they announced they were making X:Men: First Class and that James McAvoy was cast as Charles Xavier I was ecstatic. I'm a huge fan of James (except in Wanted, I couldn't handle Angelina in that.) so the thought of him playing one of my favorite characters was almost more than my little fangirl heart could handle.

The movie was fabulous! I know there were some continuity issues from the first three movies but I didn't even care. I loved the cast, I loved the cameos, I loved it all!! (Oh, and I especially loved James! He took my breath away a couple of times. *swoon*)
